In short

Looking for an electrician in Wembley?

EliteShires Property Services sends a registered electrician to homes and lets across HA9 and HA0, with same-day attendance for emergencies in opening hours, Monday to Saturday. Wembley's split housing changes the job: a new tower flat rarely needs a board change, while a Tokyngton semi often does. Registration details come with your booking and on every certificate.

We charge fault finding by the hour, and confirm the rate and an estimate first. Consumer unit changes and other defined jobs are a fixed price confirmed before we attend.

The full guide is on our Electrician & Electrical Work page, and everything else we do locally is under landlord certificates and repairs in Wembley.

Electricians in Wembley: what is different here

Electrical work in a Wembley Park flat

The towers built around the stadium since the 2000s have modern installations: an RCD or RCBO consumer unit and circuits designed for the flat as built. Faults there tend to be specific rather than general: an extractor fan that has failed, an oven circuit tripping, a downlight transformer gone, or an RCD that trips because water has reached a balcony socket.

We test and fix within the flat. What we will not do without the building's consent is open fire-stopped walls or ceilings, run new cables through compartment walls or touch anything in the landlord's risers, because those are part of the block's fire strategy.

Interwar semis in Tokyngton, Preston and Barn Hill

Houses built in the 1920s and 1930s, like the semis around Preston Road, have usually been rewired once, often decades ago, and extended since. The common findings on an inspection are a consumer unit without full RCD protection, missing main bonding to the gas or water pipe, and a kitchen or extension wired at a different time from the rest.

All of those can usually be dealt with without a full rewire. Where a house in the Barn Hill conservation area needs new external lights or an outside supply, we keep fittings and cable runs off the front elevation where we can, because the council's appraisal treats the original frontages as part of the area's character.

EICRs and Brent licence conditions

Every private let in England needs an electrical inspection at least every five years, with any remedials finished within 28 days of the report, or sooner if it says so. In Brent there is a second layer. The selective licence conditions require the licence holder to keep every electrical installation safe and to give the council a declaration of its safety on demand, and to provide appliance test reports within 14 days if asked. Brent's HMO conditions ask for a PAT report on the same timescale.

Selective licensing covers every Wembley ward except Wembley Park until 3 March 2029, so most Wembley landlords are working to those conditions. In Wembley Central and Wembley Hill, where about one household in ten lived in a converted house in 2021, the hall, stairs and alarms often run from a separate landlord's supply, which needs testing too. We quote remedials line by line against the codes and send the completion paperwork you need to pass on.

Shared flats and fire alarms in the towers

A Wembley Park flat let to three or four sharers from different households has needed a Brent additional HMO licence since 2 February 2026, and the licensing standards for shared homes usually look closely at fire detection. Before we fit or change anything, we check whether the flat's alarms are linked to a building-wide system, because some blocks run a stay-put or simultaneous evacuation strategy that a tenant-fitted detector could interfere with. We then fit mains-powered, interlinked alarms where the licence or the fire risk assessment calls for them, and record what we fitted for the licence file.

Access, parking and booking

For a tower, book the visit through the concierge and send the electrician's name and the time; some buildings want a risk assessment and method statement for anything beyond a small repair, and we can supply one. For a house, whether it is in North Wembley or a street beside the stadium, tell us if it falls inside the event day zone, because the restrictions apply from 8am or 10am to midnight on event days and we would rather plan around them. If isolating a circuit will affect a tenant's fridge, freezer or medical equipment, tell us when you book so we can plan the shutdown.

Certificates and defined jobs are a fixed price confirmed before we attend; repairs are charged by the hour, with the rate and an estimate confirmed before we attend. On our electrical work page: what a visit includes, step by step.

Electricians in Wembley: your questions

Not answered here? Call 0203 667 1333 and ask.

Can you add sockets in a Wembley Park flat?

Usually, if the new socket can come from an existing circuit inside the flat without breaking into a fire-stopped wall or ceiling. Many towers are built with concrete or masonry walls, so surface trunking is sometimes the tidier option. We check the circuit's capacity first and tell you if the building's consent is needed.

My Wembley semi failed its EICR. Do I need a rewire?

Rarely. Most failures we see on interwar houses are a consumer unit without RCD protection, missing bonding, or a damaged accessory, and each can be fixed on its own. Send us the report and we price each coded item, marking which ones affect the result and which are recommendations.

Does Brent need to see my EICR?

Brent can ask for it. The national rules require you to give the council a copy within seven days of a written request, and Brent's selective licence conditions require a declaration that the installation is safe when the council asks. Keep the report and any remedial certificates together so you can answer quickly.

Can you fit an EV charger supply at a Wembley house?

Yes, for a house with its own driveway. We check the earthing and the main fuse rating first, then install the supply and protection and certify it. A flat in a managed block is different: chargers there are normally the building's responsibility, so speak to the managing agent first.

Why does my flat's RCD trip when it rains?

Water is getting into something on that circuit, often a balcony light or socket, a terrace fitting or a damaged outdoor cable. Leave the affected circuit off, reset the rest, and call us. We test each outdoor accessory and replace or reseal the one that is letting water in.

Do you work in the evenings for Wembley flats?

Our hours are Monday to Saturday, with Saturdays until 4.30pm, and many Wembley blocks limit contractor hours anyway. If you work during the day, we can arrange access through the concierge or your agent and send photos of what we found and fixed.
