What to have ready when you call
Most quotes are settled on the phone, and what determines the price is usually three or four facts.
- For an EPC: property type, number of bedrooms, and whether it has been assessed in the last ten years
- For an EICR: roughly how many circuits or bedrooms, and whether the consumer unit has been replaced
- For a gas safety check: how many gas appliances you provide, because the record must cover all of them
- For repairs: what is happening, when it started, and whether it is getting worse
- Access: whether you, a tenant or a key safe will let us in
If it is an emergency
Call rather than emailing. For a water leak, find and turn off the stopcock first, usually under the kitchen sink or in a downstairs cupboard, because that does more good than anything else before we arrive.
Landlords and agents
If you hold more than one property, ask about an account. We diary the renewal dates, group visits where it saves you a call-out, report with photographs and invoice monthly. See property maintenance.
