In short
Can I book a handyman in Pinner for a list of small jobs?
Yes. Send us the whole list with photos and we will tell you whether it is a half day or a full day, then clear it in one visit, coming over from Kenton Lane, a few miles east of Pinner. In Pinner we also check two things on the list: anything outside facing the road, and anything a registered electrician or plumber should do.
The full guide is on our Handyman & Odd Jobs page, and everything else we do locally is under landlord certificates and repairs in Pinner.
Handyman Services in Pinner: what is different here
What goes on a Pinner list
Pinner's housing is mostly owner occupied: between 67.7% and 75.5% of households across Pinner ward (which includes Pinner Green), Pinner South and Hatch End owned their home in 2021. The lists reflect it. Typical items: an oak front door that has swollen and binds on the frame in winter, a garage side door that no longer latches, loft hatch boards, bathroom silicone gone black, a curtain track for a wide bay, shelves in an alcove, and a garden gate that drags.
Detached houses add things like a shed door rebuilt or a fence panel replaced along a long boundary. We arrive with the consumables for the whole list. If you want specific handles, blinds or fittings, order them ahead or tell us and we will include them.
Gates, fences and paving that need a planning check
Several small outdoor jobs need permission in parts of Pinner. In the Pinnerwood Park core area, changing a front or side gate, fence or wall, or laying a hard surface in the front garden, needs planning permission under the 1991 Article 4 direction. On the Pinner Hill Estate, a 1990 direction covers hard surfaces anywhere in the curtilage, and gates, fences, walls and satellite dishes as well. Rayners Lane and the Harrow part of Eastcote Village are conservation areas too, but Harrow lists no Article 4 direction for either, so these extra controls on gates and paving do not reach them.
At 41 and 43 High Street, a 1993 direction covers gates, fences and walls. Repairing what is there, like for like, is a different matter, and that is usually what we recommend. A gate rehung on new hinges, a replacement rail in the same timber, or a post reset in the same spot keeps the original design. If you want a new design, check with Harrow's conservation team first; we will not install one without that answer.
Getting a house ready to sell or let
Before a sale or a new tenancy, we work from the estate agent's notes, a survey or a check-out report. The aim is to fix what a buyer or tenant will notice: doors that do not latch, missing handles, cracked tiles, gaps around the bath, marks on walls, a dripping outside tap. We photograph each item before and after, which helps if a deposit is disputed or a buyer's surveyor queries it.
If the list includes certificates for a let, such as the EICR or gas safety record, we can arrange them in the same window so entry is organised once. Pinner is outside Harrow's selective licensing wards, so for a single-family let the national rules are the checklist.
What a handyman should not do
Some jobs look small but need a registered trade and a certificate: a new outside socket or light, moving a radiator, anything on a gas appliance, or mains-wired smoke alarms. We flag those when we read your list, and because we have registered electricians and plumbers, they usually stay in the same booking.
In a listed cottage in the old village, even fixing shelves into historic timber or plaster can matter, because the council's consent rules reach inside the building too. Tell us if the building is listed, and we will suggest fixings that avoid the original fabric.
Small jobs in leasehold flats
Purpose-built flats are home to nearly three in ten Pinner ward households, and a flat changes what a handyman can touch. The front entrance door onto a communal corridor is often a fire door that belongs to the freeholder, so a new lock, letterplate or spyhole may need the managing agent's agreement and the right fire-rated hardware. Many buildings restrict drilling and noisy work to set hours, and fixings on balconies or external walls usually need consent under the lease.
Send the building rules with your list and we plan around them: quiet jobs such as flat-pack, curtain tracks and resealing first, drilling inside the permitted window. Where a fault is in a communal area, such as a corridor light or an entry door closer, you get a short note to pass to the agent rather than a bill for work on their part of the building.
Booking and access in Pinner
A half or full day spreads the travel and parking time over the whole list, which matters in the village centre, where the bays outside the shops are controlled. If you have a drive, we use it. For North Harrow and Rayners Lane we come along Pinner Road rather than through the village.
On the Pinner Hill Estate, the roads are private, so tell us about gates or codes when you book. Pinner Fair day is a poor choice for work in the centre, and we work Saturdays as well as weekdays.

Handyman Services in Pinner: your questions
Not answered here? Call 0203 667 1333 and ask.
How much does a handyman cost in Pinner?
We do not publish prices. You send the list, and we tell you whether it fits a half day or a full day, with the cost confirmed before we attend. Materials you ask us to supply are itemised.
What is the proper name for a handyman?
General maintenance or property maintenance operative is common, and some firms say odd-job service. What matters is what the person is competent to do. We cover general repairs and assembly, send our own registered trades for electrical and plumbing work, and tell you when a job needs a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Can you take down an old satellite dish in Pinnerwood Park?
Yes. Removing a dish and making good the brickwork is normally fine. Putting up a new dish or aerial on the estate needs planning permission under Harrow's Article 4 direction.
Can you fix a sticking oak front door without replacing it?
Usually. Oak swells with damp weather. We ease the edge, adjust the hinges, reseal any planed timber so it does not take up more water, and check the latch and letterbox. On Pinnerwood Park, the council expects original doors to be kept, so repair is also the planning-friendly option.
Can you fit smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in my Pinner let?
Yes. Battery alarms are a handyman job; mains-wired, interlinked alarms go to an electrician in the same visit. The law requires a smoke alarm on every storey with living accommodation and a CO alarm in rooms with a fixed combustion appliance other than a gas cooker.
