We adjust, refit or replace each of these and photograph it, so you can show the council what was done.
What can be changed on a house in a Harrow conservation area?
Repairs and like-for-like maintenance are usually straightforward; replacing what the street can see is where planning control starts. Harrow has 30 conservation areas, from the eight on and around Harrow on the Hill to Harrow Weald Park and the Brookshill Drive and Grimsdyke Estate area further north. More than you might expect. Since 23 June 2026, Harrow Council's inspections have used the amended Housing Health and Safety Rating System, and two of its merged hazards are made of handyman-sized faults. Collisions, entrapment and ergonomics covers doors and windows that trap fingers or swing into people, and fittings placed or built so they are awkward to use. Falls on the level takes in falls at toilets, baths and showers, slips on level floors, and trips where the level changes by less than 300mm, such as a lifted threshold strip or a single step down into an extension.
Rehanging a door, adjusting a closer that slams, refixing a threshold or fitting a grab rail is quick work, and it removes the hazard before anyone scores it.

Is it worth booking a handyman for just one job in Harrow?
