Three things are left out of that control: entrance doors, window frames and sills, and British Standard white or off-white on render that is already there.
Refreshing the front door, the casements and existing white render is therefore the normal job. Painting brickwork, changing the render colour or picking out the timbers in a new shade is not. The estate was built by F & C Costin with mock-Tudor fronts and leaded lights, and Brent's appraisal singles out houses painted red or brick red as harmful. Its streets include Mount Stewart Avenue, Shaftesbury Avenue and Trevelyan Crescent.

Can I paint my front door a new colour in Mount Stewart or Northwick Circle?
Painting it is usually fine. Brent's directions in both areas leave entrance doors, window frames and sills out of the exterior painting control. Replacing the door is a separate matter. In Mount Stewart front doors sit outside the alteration control, but in the inner Northwick Circle area doors still need permission. If in doubt, ask Brent planning before ordering anything.
My Kenton house already has white render. Can it be repainted white without applying?
In Brent's Kenton conservation areas, British Standard white or off-white on existing render is excluded from the painting control, so a like-for-like white refresh normally sits outside it. Changing to cream, grey or a colour is different. We match the existing shade and confirm the exact white with you first. Check with Brent if the render has ever been another colour.
Who decorates the stairs and landings in my Preston Road block of flats?
Usually the freeholder or managing agent rather than each leaseholder, but your lease decides. Preston ward has the highest share of purpose-built flats in the Kenton area, 36.7% of households at the 2021 Census. Yes. Kenton West has the area's highest share of homes in flats over shops or other commercial buildings, 1.9% at the 2021 Census. These flats usually rely on a fire door at the entrance, so we keep paint off the seals and avoid building up layers on door edges. Access is often through a rear yard or a narrow stair, which we plan for when quoting.
